South Africa recorded 7 657 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 infections and 59 deaths, bringing the death toll to 57 765 on Sunday.
According to a statement by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD), as of Sunday, the country recorded 1 747 082 laboratory-confirmed cases.
"The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD)... reports that 7 657 new Covid-19 cases have been identified in South Africa, representing a 17.2% positivity rate," the statement said.

Gauteng is the most impacted, with 505 322 confirmed cases, followed by KwaZulu-Natal with 343 389 and the Western Cape at 301 142.
"The majority of new cases are from the Gauteng province (64%), followed by the Western Cape (9%) and North West (7%) provinces," said NICD spokesperson Sinenhlanhla Jimoh.
Gauteng recorded 4 896 new cases on Sunday, with the Western Cape recording 663 and North West 521.
There had been an increase of 632 admissions in the past 24 hours and 78 additional in-hospital deaths.
South Africa had conducted 12 193 414 tests, of which 44 560 were carried out in the past 24 hours.
The recovery rate is currently at 91.9%, which translated to 1 606 581 recoveries.
