Sardarpur (Dhar district, Madhya Pradesh): The people here do not seem to be taking vaccination seriously. As per health department, only 27,557 vaccines have been administered so far though 2 lakh people are eligible for inoculation.
The health department is not keen either to motivate people for inoculation. The department officials said staff deputed at the vaccination centres will inoculate those who will visit session site.
There are 2 community health centres and 60 sub-health centres in Sardarpur tehsil that cover 224 villages under 95 gram panchayats. Against this, there are just 8 vaccination centres.
Villagers told Free Press that many of them fell sick after inoculation. Moreover, there are no vaccination centres in villages. “If we go 10-15 km from the village leaving agricultural work or labour work, there is a loss of wages and agricultural work suffers. There has already been financial loss due to corona. Moreover, the vaccination centres are crowded,” a villager said.
Moreover, there is a big gap between demand and supply of vaccines at the centres. Vaccination has come to a standstill from June 11 as there are no vaccines left at the centres.
