Morena, MP, June 13 (UNI) A villager died on the spot in Amolpura village on Sunday as a consequence of firing by Forest Department officials who were in pursuit of a tractor trolley carrying sand extracted unauthorisedly, law-enforcement authorities said.
The deceased was identified as Mahaveer Singh Tomar (45). A case was registered against nine functionaries. Irate locals placed the corpse on the Nagra-Dodri road and obstructed vehicular movement for approximately four hours. Their demands included grant of government employment to one member of the bereaved family. The agitators were pacified by police and administrative officers. A sum of Rs 20,000 was disbursed as immediate assistance.
