Aurangabad / Mumbai, Jun 13 (UNI) Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) working president Naseem Khan on Sunday endorsed the view of party president Nana Patole that the party should contest forthcoming Assembly and local bodies elections on its own in the state.
In a democracy, every party has the right to expand and if elections are contested on its own, it will help the party to strengthen its base at the grassroots level, he said in a statement.
In order to increase the party's base in the state, it is right to contest the Municipal Corporation, Municipal and Zilla Parishad polls on its own, he pointed.
"If the Congress party contests the elections on its own, it will benefit the party. We are trying to give the past glory to the Congress in the state, which was the number one party in the state earlier. Hence, Mr Patole is right to say that the party should contest these elections on its own," added Mr Khan.
