PDD daily wager who was electrocuted in Kulgam, succumbs

Srinagar, Jun 13 (UNI) A Power Development Department (PDD) daily wager, who was electrocuted while repairing a line in south Kashmir district of Kulgam on Saturday, succumbed at a hospital in Srinagar on Sunday.

Official sources said a PDD daily wager, identified as Sartaj Ahmad Sheikh, received electric shock when he came in contact with a live wire while repairing a line in Hanand area in Kulgam on Saturday. “Sheikh was critically injured in the incident,” they said, adding the wounded was rushed to a Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag.

They said the injured was referred to SHMS hospital in Srinagar in a critical condition. “After battling for his life for several hours, Sheikh succumbed at the hospital on Sunday,” they said.

They said after completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites. “Police have registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident,” they added.
