Kolkata: Amidst the speculation of more exodus in the ruling Trinamool Congress, leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said they will implement 'anti-defection law' in West Bengal in two-three months after he spoke to Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.
“In TMC there are post holders from other political parties. Anti defection law in West Bengal is necessary as those willing to defect to any other party must abide by the law. As a leader of opposition it is my duty to abide by law,” stated Suvendu adding that before he took primary membership of Bhartiya Janata Party he had left all the posts from the ruling Trinamool Congress.
Suvendu also claimed that anti defection law will be implemented in West Bengal in next two-three months.
Slamming Suvendu, TMC spokesperson and state general secretary Kunal Ghosh slammed Suvendu asking him to first go and teach the anti-defection law to his father Sisir Adhikari.
“Despite holding several important posts from the Trinamool Congress, Suvendu’s father defected to the BJP. So Suvendu should first teach the law to his father before implementing it,” said Kunal.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Rajib Banerjee who was spotted at the residence of Trinamool Congress’ state secretary Kunal Ghosh in Kolkata. However, he dismissed plans of switching parties saying, “There were no such talks. I am still in Bharatiya Janata Party."
