BHUBANESWAR: The state’s test positivity rate came down to 7.9% on Friday with the detection of 5,235 new infections from among the 65,635 samples tested in the last 24 hours. However, several districts continued to report a very high TPR, reports Riyan Ramanath. The positivity rate in at least seven districts remained more than 10% with Jajpur (20%) being the worst-hit. The six other districts included Puri, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Kendrapada and Mayurbhanj. These apart, the TPR of six districts was close to 10%. Jharsuguda had the lowest positivity rate of 1.3%. To achieve the government’s projection of 56,000 active cases by mid-June, such cases must come down by 2,500 each for four consecutive days. The cumulative active cases stood at 66,226 as on Friday. “If the current trend persists, there is a possibility of the active cases reaching the projected figure. The positivity rate in the state is still dynamic,” CBK Mohanty, director, medical education and training, said.
