Fans Demand Miami Police 'Free Polo G' After Chart-Topping Rapper Arrested on Multiple Charges

Rapper Polo G was arrested early Saturday morning, and fans are rallying on his behalf via social media using the hashtag #FreePoloG.

The 22-year-old rapper, born Taurus Bartlett, was reportedly pulled over around one in the morning in the vicinity of Biscayne Boulevard and Southeast First Street, according to a police report. He was charged with resisting arrest with violence, battery on a police officer, and criminal mischief

In a video shared on Instagram, Bartlett's mother and manager, Stacie Mac, said that Bartlett and his younger brother were pulled over. The incident took place after an album release party to celebrate Polo G's newest album Hall of Fame, which was released on Friday.

"My kids called me in a frenzy saying the police are behind them, 20 cars behind them," she said. "He wasn't even the person driving, okay? Do you know how scary that is?"

According to the Miami-Herald, a witnessing officer recounted that Bartlett allegedly got into a struggle with Officer Brandon Carrero. According to the arrest report, Carerro was struck multiple times in the head and cheek while trying to handcuff Bartlett, stating that the officer has "multiple injuries."

The report also stated that after Bartlett was in custody, he allegedly shouted to the officer: "I will kill you, I swear I will use these fists to beat the s**t out of you and knock your ass out."

Stacie Mac said that the police have made it incredibly difficult for her to check on her children. "They refused to let me speak to my minor son, who is 16-years-old."

Miami Police tweeted on Saturday morning that they are "aware of the incident" and will "provide updates as they become available."

Another video on Twitter showed Stacie Mac approaching what look to be a plethora of police vehicles, demanding to know where her sons are. She can be heard yelling: "Where are my sons? All of this for two boys?"

Towards the end of the video, another officer approaches and tells bystanders to leave. "Everybody's got to go," he shouted. "If you stay, you are liable for arrest."
