Patna, Jun 12 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said a total of 21,608 farmers in 13 districts of the state along both sides of Ganga river were being given agriculture input subsidy to encourage them for organic farming.
Mr Kumar tweeted that an organic farming corridor was created covering 13 districts of Bihar.
Organic farming corridor was created to encourage farmers to avoid chemical fertilizers, he
said.
Chief Minister said that the government in its bid to encourage organic farming, had started
giving agriculture input subsidy to them.
A total of 21,608 farmers were presently being given benefits of agriculture input subsidy, he
added.
Mr Kumar said that organic farming would not only help in protecting Ganga river from getting
polluted but it also save environment from the onsluaght of climate changes.
His government was committed to ensure protection of environment, he stressed.
