Ujjain: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)ís Ratlam district president Samarth Chauhan was murdered over an illicit relationship. Police have arrested two accused.

The deceased was maintaining relations with the woman with whom the main accused was also having an affair.

The main accused asked Chauhan to stay away from the woman, but he did not pay heed to his threats. The accused was accessing the WhatsApp account of the said woman in his mobile. Using her WhatsApp account, the accused messaged Samarth to meet him and killed him with the help of his aide.

Samarth Chauhan (43), a resident of Bhatpachalana, was murdered three days ago. His body was found in a dry portion of Bagedi River. His body had marks of head injury from a heavy object. Chauhan lived in the Samta Campus of Ratlam and worked as an insurance agent. During the police found clues of the relationship and cracked the murder.

SP Satyendra Kumar Shukla said that accused Chaturbhuj had relations with the woman prior to her involvement with the deceased. Posing as woman (using her WhatsApp account), the 22-year-old accused called Chauhan to meet him near Bagedi river at 11.30 pm on the fateful night. Chauhan reached the spot without informing his family members. He was ambushed and killed by Chaturbhuj and his companion Santosh.

The accused kicked, punched and thrashed Chauhan with sticks. Frail bodied Chauhan succumbed to the injuries. After killing the accused, leaving the corpse in the river itself, the went into hiding in their homes.

However, they sensed that the police are close on the heels of cracking the case, both of them tried to escape from the police interrogation by consuming poisonous substances. Both were admitted to Geeta Hospital in Barnagar.

Cops interrogated both at the hospital itself and they confessed to killing Chauhan. The police have seized the stick used in the murder.
