French Open 2021 Semifinals: Stefanos Tsitsipas enters finals, defeats Alexander Zverev in 5-set thriller: Greek’s Stefanos Tsitsipas has entered the finals of the French Open after managing to give his best in the semifinals against Alexander Zeverv. The epic contest entered the 5th set with Tsitsipas winning the first two battles. World No.6 Alexander Zverev managed to fight back in the 3rd and 4th set but lost his Midas touch in the final set to hand Tsitsipas his first finals in the French Open.
The entire match lasted for 3 hours 37 mins. The victory ended Tsitsipas’ three-match losing streak in Grand Slam semi-finals.
The winner will face either Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic in the epic battle on Sunday. The youngster will have his work cut out on Sunday — he is 2-7 against Nadal and 2-5 playing Djokovic.
Stefanos Tsitsipas (22 years, 305 days) is the youngest Roland Garros men’s singles finalist since Rafael Nadal (2008; 22 years, 5 days). He also became the youngest man to reach a Grand Slam final since Andy Murray at the 2010 Australian Open.
