Hyderabad: “If not now, when? If not us, who?” Thought a group of friends before taking action to help people in the city. COVID-19.
Their simple yet noble thought has now benefited thousands of people. From the provision of 1,930 beds in hospitals to the provision of 2,100 oxygen cylinders and the distribution of 360 necessities COVID-19 medicine, ‘Helping Humans Hyderabad’ was no less than a savior for many.
Initially started by Mohammed Abdul Yusuf, a law student at the Symbiosis Law School of Hyderabad, it was further supported by other friends Sami bin Halas, Qadeer Moinuddin, Mohammed Moin Uddin, Arshad Shareef, Syed Ziauddin, Mohammed Hafeez, Shaikh Abrar, Fatik Nubair , and Shaikh Maqbool to help COVID-19 affected population.
The services of Helping Humans Hyderabad (HHH) reach even further than Hyderabad. “We were able to help people from different states like Karnataka, Gujarat, Delhi, Bihar, Kerala, etc.,” the founding members said. The organization was also able to transport a patient from Patna to Hyderabad for special treatment.
HHH’s work was also competently supported by TRS MLC of Nizamabad, Kavita Kalvakuntla. “The support and help from such leading leaders has led us to believe that we are on the right track,” Yusuf told siasat.com.
They also provided a total of 3,450 dinner meals and 3,000 surgical masks in Tadbund, Charminar, the government’s maternity hospital, Afzal Gunj, MGBS, Osmania Hospital, the Nampally train station, Public Gardens, the MRC cancer hospital and the Nilafor hospital and NIMS.

The idea of the group to help at least four to five people a day has become manifold. They now receive about 300-400 calls a day for help.
However, Yusuf said they could no longer sustain the initiative out of their own pockets due to a serious financial predicament. The group is now being forced to raise funds for the purchase of oxygen concentrators, the distribution of ration packets and food parcels for the needy.
