Panchkula, June 11
The local unit of the Congress today staged a protest at a petrol pump in Sector 2 here against the rising fuel prices.
Raising slogans against Narendra Modi-led Central Government, former Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan, along with other party leaders, also rode a horse-cart as a mark of protest.
He said an LPG cylinder was priced at Rs400 and petrol was sold at Rs70 per litre in 2014, and their prices had been rising constantly since then.
Vijay Bansal, another Congress leader, urged the BJP-JJP government to provide relief to the people of the state by reducing VAT on petrol and diesel. Former Mayor Upinder Kaur Ahluwalia was among those who took part in the protest. — TNS
