Defending Rafael Nadal will face off World No.1 Novak Djokovic in the biggest-ever battle of French Open 2021- semifinals. The match may also determine the winner at Roland Garros as the duo are dominating force in the world of Tennis and far better as compared to youngsters Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zeverv.

French Open Semifinals: While Nadal is chasing is his record 21st Grand Slam to overtake Swiss giant Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic could become the first man on the planet to win two grand slams each including the French Open.

But when it comes to the French Open title, Rafael Nadal has won record 13 titles at Roland Garros. The Spaniard is chasing his fifth consecutive title in the French Open. On the other, Novak Djokovic has won just one French Open title (in 2016). He would like to avenge his Italian Open final loss against Nadal and put up a memorable show on Friday.

French Open Semifinals: When it comes records at Clay, it’s Rafael Nadal who holds an upper hand over Novak Djokovic. Nadal has played 501 matches on the clay court where he has managed 459 wins which includes 62 titles. The Serbian, on the other hand, has managed an impressive record of winning 236 matches and only 59 losses (including 16 titles) but the stake for Nadal is quite high than Djokovic.

In Head-to-Head battles, Novak Djokovic holds the upper hand by a slight margin. The 34-year-old has won 29 matches while Nadal has secured 28 victories over the top-ranked player.

NOTE: Rafael Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic in the 2020 French Open final to claim his 13th title.

“We know each other well. Everybody knows that in these kind of matches anything can happen. But it is a semi-final. It’s not a final. That’s a big difference,” Nadal said ahead of the semifinal clash as quoted by AFP

“Rafa is the biggest rival I’ve ever had in my career. The anticipation for the match against him, any match, any surface, any occasion, is always different from any other,” added Djokovic.
