Facebook is rolling out three new Messenger application features for smartphone users. These add the ability to make payments using the application by simply scanning QR codes. There is also a quick reply bar to help you respond swiftly and three new chat themes to choose from.
Messenger application now lets users make and accept payments using QR codes and payment links. This feature is limited to US-based users for the time being. It works through Facebook Pay but does not require users to stay connected with Facebook for making payments. It also eliminates the need for installing a new payment app and adding all contacts there.
Facebook has added a new Quick Reply Bar within the media viewer. The aim of the feature is to let users type messages without exiting the full-screen media viewer interface. The reply bar appears right below the opened media where you can type as you look at the file at the same time.
There are three new chat themes for those who like to personalize the appearance of their chat boxes. These are named Olivia Rodrigo, World Oceans Day, and F9. These can be accessed by visiting the Theme section within the app settings.
