Lumenisity, Politecnico di Torino reach beyond 5,000km in hollowcore fibre trial

UK-based Lumenisity, spun out from the University of Southampton, said a trial of its NANF-branded hollowcore fibre technology conducted with Politecnico di Torino and the Links Foundation showed that the latest generation of fibres are now capable of multi-thousand kilometre transmission. The advanced testing set-up of the PhotoNext Lab (a joint facility of Politecnico di Torino and the Links Foundation), showed that the NANF cable can reach beyond 5,000 km, with some channels reaching almost 6,000 km, demonstrating that there appears to be no fundamental limits in the NANF hollowcore
