Kolkata: Ending the speculation of defecting back to the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), BJP national vice-president Mukul Roy and his son, Subhrangshu Roy, visited TMC Bhawan and is likely to join Mamata Banerjee-led party.
After a closed-door meeting at his Salt lake residence, Mukul Roy and his son visited TMC Bhawan.
Speculation of Mukul Roy rejoining TMC started after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during her poll campaign repeatedly claimed that Mukul is better than Suvendu Adhikari.
Mukul’s son Subhrangshu also had slammed the BJP recently on social media.
Notably, Mukul, once a very close aide of the TMC supremo, used to be called as ‘Chanakya’ of West Bengal politics and is one of the key men for the rise of Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.
Another turncoat leader, Sabyasachi Dutta, is also likely to defect back to the ruling Trinamool Congress.
On the other hand, according to TMC sources, former President Pranab Mukherjee’s son, Abhijit Mukherjee, is also likely to join TMC from Congress.
