Chandigarh, Jun 11 (UNI) The Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee organised a symbolic protest in front of the petrol pumps of the state on Friday against the increase in the prices of petrol and diesel by the BJP government.
At many places, party leaders and workers took out fury marches on bullock carts. Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Kumari Selja led the protest demonstrations organized in front of petrol pumps in Ambala city and Kurukshetra.
Speaking over the protest, Ms Selja said the prices of petrol and diesel prices have been increased by more than Rs 25.72 and Rs 23.93 respectively in the last 13 months, which is a living example of the public loot being committed by the BJP government.
She said that on one hand, the people of the country are suffering from economic slowdown due to COVID-19, while on the other hand the 'BJP government is raising the plight of the common man by increasing the prices of oil'.
"After winning the election, along with the arrogance of the BJP, the prices of petroleum products have also increased 43 times in the last five months. With the rise in oil prices, the prices of all things increase and this directly affects the general public," she alleged.Ms Shelja demanded a reduction of oil prices with immediate effect. In Haryana, the price of petrol was Rs 91.07 per litre while diesel Rs 87.06
