Niharika Das, a resident of Nagaon, Assam, set an example for society by carrying her covid positive father-in-law on her back to a health centre that is two kilometres away; meanwhile, people took photos and videos of the incident but no stepped forward to help her.
Niharika Das`s photo is becoming increasingly viral on social media where she can be seen carrying her Covid positive father-in-law on her back. Niharika walked about 2 km carrying her father-in-law on her back. However, even after so much hard work, Niharika could not save her father-in-law and she got infected with Covid too.
Niharika`s father-in-law Thuleshwar Das was a betel nut vendor in Bhatigaon in Raha town of Assam.
Niharika told that on June 2, her father-in-law started symptoms of Covid-19, so she somehow arranged for an auto-rickshaw and took the 75-year-old father-in-law to the hospital.
Niharika carried her father-in-law on her back to the auto stand and then took her out of the vehicle at the health centre and took her inside the hospital.
However, Niharika Das`s troubles did not end here. The doctors said that they would have to take their father-in-law to the Covid hospital, located 21 km away, as his condition was critical. Niharika said that after this we had to call another car as there was no ambulance or stretcher arrangement. In such a situation, once again I had to carry my father-in-law on the back and take him to the car. Niharika said that her father-in-law Tuleshwar Das was in a kind of unconscious state due to this, he had to struggle a lot physically and mentally.
In an amazing display of women-power today, Niharika Das, a young woman from Raha, carried her COVID positive father-in-law, Thuleshwar Das, on her back while taking him to the hospital. However, she too tested positive later.
