Mumbai: The N M Joshi Marg police have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly pushed a labour contractor from the fourth floor of an industrial complex in Lower Parel and killing him. Based on suspicion the police registered an offence of murder against the accused identified as Saheb Shaikh.

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon when an altercation broke out between Shaikh and his labour contractor Shabbir Alam Shaikh, 28. A sweeper working there spotted them fighting with each other on the fourth floor of Shah and Nahar Industries Premises in Dhanaraj Mill Compound at Lower Parel.

She came downstairs to alert others, when she returned she spotted Saheb running away when she tried looking for Shabbir she was shocked to find him lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor, Shabbir fell from fire passage of the building, said police.

Shabbir who fell on a tempo parked below was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Shabbir a resident of Jijamata Nagar in Worli was working as a labourer there and police suspect that the two got into argument over pending dues.

"We have registered an offence under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and our team has already dispatched to nab the culprit, said Pratap Bhosale, senior inspector of N M Joshi Marg police station.
