EC starts infringement procedure against Belgian privacy regulator

The European Commission has decided to send a formal notice to Belgium for violating an article under the GDPR, which states that data protection authorities should perform their tasks and exercise their powers independent from external influences, either direct or indirect. The EC noted that some members of Belgium's Data Protection Authority are not impartial, as they are also involved in the government.
