Odisha registers 6097 new covid+ve cases,44 deaths in past 24 hours

Bhubaneswar, Jun 10 (UNI) Odisha reported 6097 fresh covid cases and 44 deaths in the last

24 hours pushing the covid tally in the state to 8,37,226 with 3167 fatalities.

Health and family Welfare department sources said 3446 positive cases were reported from

the quarantine centres and 2651 local contact cases from all the 30 districts in the past 24 hours.

At least nine districts have reported less than 100 new cases while another nine districts

registered 100 to 200 cases and the other 12 districts reported more than 200 cases.

Khordha district accounted for a maximum of 1017 new cases followed by Cuttack (647),

Jajpur (434),Balasore (392) and Mayurbhanj ( 297).

During the last 24 hours 44 more covid patients succumbed to the virus from as many as

17 districts pushing the total fatalities in the state to 3167.

Khordha district registered the highest number of five deaths followed by four each in Angul, Bargarh,Cuttack and Jharsuguda.Three covid patients each died in Sundargarh,Rayagada,

Kalahandi and Puri district.

While two each died in three districts, one each death reported from five districts.

Sources said since June 1 except on June 3 last the state has been witnessing a daily death

toll of either 40 or a little over 40.The highest toll of 45 was reported on June 7 last.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said the total positivity rate has come down

to 0-4 percent in nine districts,5 to 7.5 percent in six districts while the rest 15 districts have

reported above 7.5 percent.

Jajpur district in coastal Odisha has reported the highest TPR of 23.5 percent while Nuapada

district in Western Odisha has reported the lowest TPR of 2.1 percent.

Most of the Western Odisha districts are reporting TPR less than five percent while four

coastal districts such as khordha,Nayagarh, Bhadrak and Puri have registered over 12 percent

TPR till date.

The Positivity rate in the state stands at 6.71 percent as till midnight of June 9, out of

1,24,57,606 tests, about 8,37,226 were found infected with coronavirus.

The recovery rate in the state has gone up to almost 91 percent as 7,64,673 people including

8032 cured on Wednesday ,have so far recovered from the virus in the state.

The active cases have further reduced to 69,333 and stand at 8.28 percent of the total positive

cases in the state .

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the State yesterday emphasized to ensure all arrangements for the protection of children in the posible third wave of coronavirus.

Mr.Patnaik has directed to reserve special beds for children along with training for doctors,

health workers and to increase the daily number of vaccination to three lakhs.

The Chief Minister has sanctioned Rs.20 crore for Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation in

addition to 77 crore sanctioned earlier, further strengthening Odisha's fight against COVID-19.

The additional funds have been approved considering a higher number of patients undergoing treatment in Bhubaneswar, he said.
