Man arraigned on multiple felonies after allegedly attacking girlfriend with knife

A Muskegon man was arraigned on multiple felonies Wednesday after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend with a knife, according to the Michigan State Police.
Jason Edward Warren, 39, was arraigned in Sanilac County on assault with intent to murder, aggravated domestic violence, felonious assault, fleeing a police officer, interfering with electronic communications and reckless driving.
If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison or any number of years.
His bond was set at $500,000 cash/surety.
Shortly after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Michigan State Police Caro Post troopers were dispatched to a residence in Lexington. A 911 caller said a woman was frantically knocking on her door looking for help.
Michigan State Police Third District Public Information Officer Kimberly Vetter said the alleged assault took place in a vehicle as they were driving in Lexington. The woman escaped the vehicle and knocked on a residence for help.
The 38-year-old Wisconsin woman had sustained multiple serious injuries, according to the Michigan State Police.
The victim told police she had been threatened and assaulted by her boyfriend with a knife. Police said the woman was transferred to a local hospital.
Police were given a description of the vehicle and the suspect. A traffic stop was attempted when Warren's vehicle was spotted, but he did not stop for the trooper, and a pursuit ensued. Warren eventually stopped and surrendered near Lakeshore and Roach roads in Lexington, state police said.
He was lodged at the Sanilac County jail.
Lexington Police Department, Croswell Police Department, and Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in the investigation.
Warren is scheduled for a probable cause hearing at 10 a.m. on June 22.
A request for comment to Warren's lawyer Thursday morning was not immediately returned.
