CHENNAI: The
postmortem report confirming the cause of the death of a Covid-infected
woman in Chennai’s
Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital is yet to be released. Postmortem was performed on the decomposed body of the woman,
Sunitha, on Wednesday evening.
The woman, who had been missing from
Covid ward, was found dead on Tuesday night.
Sunitha, 41, of Kadaperi near East Tambaram, was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) on May 23. Her husband V V Mouli, a faculty member at a private engineering college in
Andhra Pradesh, found his wife missing when he went to deliver food to her on May 24. A woman missing was case was registered on the same day.
Sanitary workers found the body on the eighth floor of the tower-III of the hospital on Tuesday. She was found in a sleeping position with her slippers kept under the head like pillow.
Police said the tower-III, which was modified into a corona ward, didn’t have
CCTV camera everywhere. Police have registered a case under Section 174 (unnatural death) of the CrPC.
