Swedish broadband network investment falls 5% in 2020, more declines likely despite subsidies and 5G

Thursday 10 June 2021 | 13:43 CET | News
Swedish communications regulator PTS said investment in fixed and mobile broadband networks fell by 5 percent in 2020 to SEK 10.87 billion from SEK 11.48 billion, in an interim report concerning the government's broadband strategy. It expects declines in the coming years, although state subsidies will mitigate this, and 5G expansion will raise mobile network spending. The watchdog will publish estimates on progress towards national broadband targets in the autumn.
