DDA master plan promises to change Delhi’s face by 2041

Published

on

Delhi Development Authority has put its Draft Master Plan for Delhi-2041 in the public domain for inviting objections and suggestions from the public for 45 days. The vision for MPD-2041 is to “Foster a Sustainable, Liveable and Vibrant Delhi by 2041”. “The government has increased the focus on urban development by embarking upon a comprehensive programme for planned urban development in 2014, designed to bring about a transformative change in the lives of people with inclusive, participative and sustainable approach”. The draft master plan envisions a more “sustainable, liveable, safe and inclusive capital with housing for all and better economic opportunities”.

Apart from boosting the economy, the draft plans measures to tackle air, water, and noise pollution, as well as measures like ‘refuge points’ and self-sustained isolated residential areas to deal with pandemics.

“High built densities, poor quality and age of built stock further increases the vulnerability. The COVID-19 pandemic brought into focus the need to create self-contained and mixed-use areas with decentralised infrastructure”. The master plan is a roadmap for the future development of the city. It assesses the present condition of the city and works as a guideline to achieve the desired development. The 2041 plan looks at the development of new housing in the peripheral areas thanks to land pooling and green development initiatives, while also focusing on urban regeneration and densification in the city centre and around transit corridors with rental and small format housing. A more pragmatic land use of existing industrial areas is planned, with thrust on service sector, IT, tourism and hospitality.

The plan recognises cultural hotspots such as Shahjahanabad, the Central Vista and India Gate lawns, Connaught Place, Hauz Khas and Mehrauli as places of intense public activity, attracting locals as well as tourists. Other specific hubs with a concentration of socio-cultural activities shall be identified (for example Mandi House, Lodhi Institutional Area and Art precinct, Dilli Haat, Dastakaar Haats, etc.). Efforts will be made to improve the interaction of spaces with people in these areas.

SASIKALA’S AUDIO TAPES SURFACE, HINT AT HER POLITICAL COMEBACK

Published

on

In the past few days, nearly four audio tapes have surfaced in which the AIADMK party cadres have been calling former party leader V.K. Sasikala. In those recordings, the cadres have been telling her about the woes the party is facing.

In the leaked audio, V.K. Sasikala was heard assuring various party members about her definite return and to meet them all. Sasikala, in one tape, assured “Lawrence, I will definitely come.”

“You are all with me, I don’t have any fear. We will strengthen the party together.”, the other audio reveals.

But from the AIADMK side, top leaders of the party have been telling that there is no space or room for Sasikala anymore. They claim that the speculations are made to create confusion in the party, but at any cost, the party won’t be going after her.

When Sasikala was released from jail in January, she informed that she’d be actively working in politics. She had also traveled in a car that held an AIADMK party flag after she was released.

But later, during the peak of elections, she had announced that she is retiring from active politics and she won’t take part in any party activities or party campaigns.

After DMK achieved massive victory in state assembly elections, AIADMK became the opposition party.

Some of the AIADMK party cadres have claimed that the defeat was because of the lack of proper leadership, and they wanted Sasikala to handle the party once again.

Huge developments might take place in the future, as she ensures (in the recordings) that she will be rejoining the party soon.

Nusrat Jahan’s denial of marital relations with Nikhil might land her in trouble

TMC MP Nusrat Jahan has lied in Parliament, alleges BJP leader Amit Malviya.

Published

on

Nusrat Jahan, West Bengal’s TMC MP is making rounds in the news after her shocking revelations about her ‘marriage’ to businessman Nikhil Jain, which has taken her followers by surprise.

Jahan said, on Wednesday, that her marriage with businessman Nikhil Jain was never valid hence there is no question of a divorce. Issuing a statement, the actor-turned-politician said that an interfaith marriage in India requires validation under the Special Marriage Act, which never happened in her case.

Nusrat took an oath in Parliament using Nikhil Jain’s last name. Lok Sabha’s website also mentions Nikhil Jain as her husband. BJP leader Amit Malviya tweeted a video of the swearing-in ceremony and questioned as to why Nusrat made a false statement. The BJP will complain to the ethics committee when the parliament opens, Malviya said.

Malviya went a step further and said, “Why is this irresponsible woman included in the party? What is her value if she is not an MP?”

Jahan, however, issued an elaborate statement saying she got separated from Nikhil Jain long back and that her wedding in Turkey was neither valid as per Indian Laws nor was it legal marriage as per Turkish regulations, thus terming it as a “relationship or a live-in relationship”.

Nevertheless, in a statement, Nikhil Jain said, “I went to Turkey in June 2019 and married Nusrat. We were together as husband and wife. But within some time, Nusrat’s behavior changed. I noticed a change in her behavior during the shooting of a film in August 2020.”

In the statement, Jain further mentioned that information about Nusrat’s departure started coming to light. “As soon as the news about Nusrat came, I started to feel cheated. Nusrat left on November 5, 2020, with everything. Nusrat went to his flat in Baliganj with all his belongings and papers. We haven’t been together since,” Jain said.

“No one has the right comment about Nusrat Jahan’s personal life,” Amit Malviya said, “But she is an elected representative and according to the parliamentary records she is married Nikhil Jain. Did she lie in the Parliament?”

According to the political circles, if a public representative gives false information in the parliament, he or she can be accused of violating laws.

The question arises, whether BJP would pursue action against her?

Meanwhile, as the issue no longer remains confined to the personal sphere, The ruling party TMC is growing uneasy over MP Nusrat Jahan’s statement about sex and marriage. Siddikulla Chowdhury one of the Trinamool Congress’s minority faces and minister, has been vocal in his criticism of the developments. Without any hesitation, the minister said that Jahan’s actions will have a bad impact on their party politics.

MUKUL NEVER SPOKE BADLY ABOUT MAMATA: SAUGATA ROY

TMC’s Saugata Roy divides turncoats into two categories—the softliners and hardliners. Leaders who have left the party and also openly insulted Mamata Banerjee, Saugata said, are hardliners, and ‘Mukul ain’t one’.

Although Mukul Roy has become Krishnanagar South MLA on a BJP ticket in the Assembly elections, there is still a lot of speculation about him in state politics. There are speculations that Mukul Roy might rejoin the Trinamool camp. Nevertheless, whatever Trinamool MP Saugata Roy said recently made the environment even more dubious.

“Since the results of the elections were announced, many defecting leaders have wanted to return to the grassroots,” Roy said.

“Someone would apologize or someone would again rebel against the party, giving birth to speculations,” he added.

In an interview with the media, he admitted that many BJP leaders were in touch with Trinamool All India General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. However, the final decision will be taken by CM Mamata Banerjee, he said. According to Saugata Roy, those who are communicating can be divided into two parts, hardliners and softliners.

Saugata said that several leaders who have left the party and also openly insulted Mamata Banerjee are hardliners. And the rest are softliners— leaders who never insulted Banerjee even after leaving the team.

To explain further, Saugata Roy compared Mukul Roy and Shuvendu Adhikari as examples. He said that after Shuvendu Adhikari left the party, he used bad language, but Mukul Roy never said bad things against Mamata.

Amid rumours, the statement is a huge departure from the strongly guarded response on Mukul Roy so far.

Rumours of Mukul Roy’s reversion to TMC started brewing earlier when Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee, a Trinamool Congress MP from Diamond Harbour, visited a city hospital to enquire about the health of Krishna Roy. Krishna Roy is wife of Mukul Roy. Not only that, the West Bengal BJP on Tuesday held a high-powered organizational meeting of its office bearers in Kolkata. This meeting, after the loss in state assembly elections last month, saw the absence of Mukul Roy. However, it was cleared out later that since Roy’s wife was unwell, that was why he could not attend the crucial meeting.

NEW DELHI: Yoga guru Ramdev made a U-turn on Thursday when he said that he would soon get the Covid-19 jab, besides calling doctors “God’s envoys on earth”.

Ramdev had earlier stirred a controversy with his comments on the efficacy of allopathic drugs against Covid-19, drawing the ire of the medical fraternity.

Welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement about free vaccine to all from 21 June, Ramdev said that it was a “historic” step and appealed to all to get themselves vaccinated. “Get both doses of the vaccine and the double protection of yoga and ayurveda. They will combine to give you such a robust shield of protection that not a single person will die from Covid,” he said. Asked when he will get the vaccine shot, the yoga guru said, “Very soon.”

Ramdev also praises “good” allopathic doctors, describing them as “God’s envoys on earth”.

Modi is top leader of country and BJP, says Sanjay Raut

MUMBAI: Days after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met PM Narendra Modi in Delhi, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday said that PM Modi is the top leader of the country and the BJP.

He made the statement in response to a question on whether he felt that PM Modi’s popularity is on a downslide as media reports suggested that RSS is contemplating to project state leaders as the face in the state elections. “I don’t want to comment on this I don’t go by the media reports. There is no official statement about this. The BJP owes its success to Narendra Modi in the last seven years and currently he is the top leader of the country and his party,” Raut said.

The Sena leader was speaking to reporters in Jalgaon. Insisting that a PM belongs to the entire country and not a particular party, he said, “Hence the PM shouldn’t get involved in election campaigning as it puts pressure on the official machinery.”

Haryana comes up with a novel plan to make Panchkula a smart city

Published

on

In a bid to develop Panchkula as an international tourist, medical and pharmaceutical hub, the Haryana government has come up with a novel plan to establish Panchkula Metropolitan Development Authority (PMDA) on the lines of Gurugram and Faridabad districts falling in National Capital Region.

It is pertinent to mention that Gurugram and Faridabad emerged as the only metropolitan cities in Haryana and feeling the need of developing another city like the two, the state government would build world-class infrastructure along with ensuring the availability of required facilities for the same. The government’s plan to set up Panchkula as Smart City, Tourist Destination, Education and Medicity Hub is likely to be completed in the stipulated time period.

To achieve the above mentioned target, a string of departments including HSVP, HSIIDC and Municipal Corporation would work in collaboration with each other to ensure the timely completion of certain projects. Maps and hoardings displaying the information about the ongoing and completed projects would be set up across the city so that everyone can have the updated and exact information regarding the same. Besides, a similar integrated development plan would be chalked out for Karnal, Hisar and other districts of the state.

“PMDA would ensure sustained and balanced growth of Panchkula. The Authority would work on the similar lines of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA),” said Chief Minister Manohar Lal.

Besides, the government plans to set up two big hospitals with modern health infrastructure in Sector-32 and Sector-5C. The state’s first joint food and drug testing lab is being opened in Panchkula’s Sector-3 with a cost of Rs 22 crore. National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is being built at Sector-23 so that it would help to establish Panchkula as an education hub.
