Imphal, June 09 2021:
Many who ventured out to buy medicines were caught on the wrong foot as several pharmacies shut shop today as a tribute to Manipur Chemists and Druggists' Association (MCDA) president Ningthoujam Ibochouba.
Ningthoujam Ibochouba, owner of DD Enterprise, Imphal died of Covid yesterday and that the pharmacies were closed as a response to the call of MCDA to close for the day in honour of the departed soul.
The mass closure of pharmacies left many people in the lurch especially those coming out to buy medicines for heart and diabetic patients.
Some pharmacies on RIMS road and Konung Mamang were opened in the evening.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, one person from Ragailong coming to purchase medicines at RIMS Road said that he was distressed on seeing many pharmacies closed as the patient was critical.
He said that he only got to purchase the medicines after spending hours in search of pharmacies.
Another person from Khurai also said that he came to RIMS Road on receiving information about one or two pharmacies being opened in the area.
If I hadn't got the medicines, the situation at home would be difficult, he further said.
