He is currently staying in the north of England while he films Indiana Jones 5 at the supposedly haunted Bamburgh Castle and the sleepy village of Grosmont, in Yorkshire. 

And Harrison Ford got back on his bike in Cresswell, Northumberland, on Thursday as he enjoyed a break from shooting the fifth instalment of the franchise.

The iconic actor, 78, displayed his toned physique in cycling gear which included a black waterproof GORE-TEX jacket and shorts.

Harrison, who is known for his age-defying fitness, paired his outfit with a protective helmet as he got out of a grey Volkswagen Touran vehicle with what appeared to be members of his security team. 

The Indiana Jones icon was seen fixing his red Colnago bike frame, with prices for the bikes going up to at least £12,000, with Continental Grand Prix 4 Season Tyres before his ride.

It comes after Harrison looked on fine form as he soaked up the sun while taking in the sights of Newcastle Quayside during a break from filming on Wednesday.

The Hollywood actor showed off his muscular frame in a tight grey T-shirt as strolled around with his bodyguard, with the two grabbing a cup of coffee before searching for someplace to eat.

Harrison has been making the most of his coastal surroundings and on Tuesday he enjoyed a bike ride from Newcastle to The Ship's Cat restaurant in North Shields. 

The film legend made a surprise appearance at the eatery, where he is said to have ordered the £17.95 sea bass, along with an £11.50 bowl of mussels.

Diners were pleasantly surprised to see the four-time Golden Globe nominee at the restaurant, with The Ships' Cat own Facebook page penning: 'Imagine sitting here enjoying your coffee then you look over and it's.... Indiana Jones! 

'What an honour to have Harrison Ford join us today on the decking here at the Ship's Cat! You are welcome back anytime. What a legend!'

The diner wasn't the only local spot Harrison has visited, as the day before he also delighted the staff at Sigma Sports bicycle shop at Hampton Wick.

Describing the encounter in an Instagram post, a staff member wrote: 'Over the years we have been very lucky to have had our fair share of legends from the world of pro cycling and some of the best triathletes in the world swing by our Hampton Wick store.​

'​Up to now though, visits from college professors of archaeology who aren't shy when it comes to running from boulders and defeating villains to help save the world have been few and far between.​

'​That though is until we were paid a visit from a certain Mr Harrison Ford. It was an absolute pleasure to welcome the acclaimed actor and director into our store and yes, we are still pinching ourselves!'

Harrison had been spotted cycling along the banks of the River Tyne on Tuesday, 50 miles from where Indiana Jones production is taking place on the sequel at the supposedly haunted Bamburgh Castle.

Harrison displayed his hunky physique in cycling garb paired with a helmet as he exercised during a break from his filming schedule, which has also seen scenes shot on the North Yorkshire Moors.

Harrison has also been spending down time in South Shields prior to reprising the franchise's titular lead role.

'Spooked': The Sun reported last week that the movie crew are 'spooked' by the famed Pink Lady said to roam the location

The castle was a buzz of activity the evening before, with cranes and trucks transporting equipment and props to the historic landmark. 

While it's not known what the precise premise of the film is, the historic settings being used in the North of England appear to be creating a creepy, eerie feel to the movie. Added to this, Bamburgh Castle is said to be haunted by a ghost. 

The Sun reported last week that the movie crew are 'spooked' by the famed Pink Lady said to roam the location.

According to the publication, the crew is worried about the spectre from the Middle Ages who roams the halls.

The Star Wars vet was spotted near Pinewood Studios - a British film and television studio located in the village of Iver Heath in Buckinghamshire - a few days ago.

 

Tasty treats ahead: The Ship’s Cat is located on Tanners' Bank in North Shields and serves an array of seafood items 

Resident Delphine Gale said the arrival of Ford into the sleepy village had created a 'fantastic vibe' in the area.

She said: 'After the year we've had, to have the excitement of Hollywood coming to the village has really cheered us all up.'  

This comes after production got underway over the weekend on the North Yorkshire Moors in the dead of night earlier this week.

A stuntman was seen, surrounded by a film crew and hefty equipment, in order to shoot a motorcycle sequence.

Though very dark and misty, the stuntman appeared to be brandishing a face mask resembling Harrison, who plays the titular lead role.

On your bike! Vintage motorcycles were taken to the location for what are presumed to be for flashback scenes

The scene was shot in the early hours in Pickering - but the stunt went a little awry when the motorcyclist came tumbling off.

The head-mask flew off in the incident, with one of the crew having to retrieve it.

The on-set first aid team was called over to check out the stunt rider. While it appeared he was unharmed, filming was paused due to damage caused to the motorbike.

According to a witness, one of the crew was heard saying that the production is already a day behind schedule, following a lengthy hold up thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This will be Harrison's fifth time reprising the title role of the heroic archaeologist with supporting parts going to Mads Mikkelsen, 55, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, 35.

A stretch of the North Yorkshire Moors railway has been transformed for the film too.

Crew members of the 2022 blockbuster could be seen on Friday working near a steam train which had been transformed into a Nazi carrier engine.

Filming will begin on the same stretch of track used only a few weeks ago by Tom Cruise for Mission: Impossible 7.

A glimpse at the props being set-up showed a black steam train which had been transformed into a Nazi carrier engine and vintage cars. 

A swastika insignia had been attached to the side of the steam engine, as well as onto a wooden pallet and onto the side of a green passenger carriage. 

Heavy artillery: Tanks were seen being driven up the hill to the castle recently 

A number of props were also being positioned by crew members onto open-topped carriages to give the impression that the steam engine was transporting goods for the Nazis in the film. Additionally, a number of vintage vehicles were also spotted parked on a field nearby. 

A troop-carrying truck, as featured in a number of the other Indiana Jones films was one of the vehicles parked near the train tracks, with crews working to put on the canvas roofing.

Additionally, a vintage motorcycle featuring a sidecar was also among the vehicles - a similar bike featured in the third Indiana Jones instalment. 

James Mangold is directing the movie in place of Steven Spielberg, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Thomas Kretschmann are also on board to star.

Plot details are still being kept under wraps, and it's unclear what roles the new additions will play in the fifth film.

Legendary composer John Williams is also set to return, continuing a musical legacy that began 40 years ago with Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Meanwhile, Harrison previously said he wouldn't make another Indiana Jones movie unless he was sure the production team could 'kill it.'

Citing the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he said: 'I don't really want to give them what they wanna see, I want to give them something they didn't anticipate seeing.

'The Marvel movies are a spectacular example of a success that worked the other way round - they killed it. We're not going to make another Indiana Jones unless we're in a position to kill it. We want it to be the best.'

Last month Boyd Holbrook and Shaunette Renee Wilson joined the cast of Indiana Jones 5.

The Logan star and the 31-year-old actress will both star in the fifth instalment of the iconic action franchise.

Indiana Jones 5 was first announced in 2016 and originally scheduled to be released in July 2019. 

It was then pushed back a year, before being delayed for another 12 months until July 2021 after Jonathan Kasdan - whose father Lawrence Kasdan wrote 1981's Raiders of the Lost Ark - was brought on board to work on the script after original screenwriter David Koepp departed the project.

The most recent film in the series was 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which earned over $790.6 million at the global box office.

The current release date for Indiana Jones 5 is July 29, 2022. 

40 years later: Harrison has played the iconic role of Indiana Jones for 40 years, having first starred in Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981
