Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal said the country needed a single technologically modern storage management infrastructure, adding that one must think in terms of convergence and aggregation of all storage infrastructure in the country.

“Modern and cost-efficient storage infrastructure at the grassroots level is a great way to increase farmers’ income,” Goyal said at a review meeting on the storage plan for essential commodities.

“Land aggregation for storage from states and government undertakings may be explored,” he said, urging for more synergy among all for effective utilisation of Agriculture Infrastructure Fund and creation of modern storage infrastructure.
