Petrol, Diesel Prices Hiked By 25 Paise; Touches New High In Delhi At ₹ 95.56/Litre

In Delhi petrol is priced at Rs. 95.56 per litre, while diesel has touched Rs. 86.47 per litre. At the same time, petrol rates in Mumbai are inching towards Rs. 102 per litre mark.

Petrol and diesel prices have gone up again across the country. With the latest revision, the two auto fuels have become dearer by 25 paise each, touching new all-time highs in the National Capital. According to Indian Oil Corporation, petrol now costs ₹ 95.56 a litre in Delhi, while diesel retails at ₹ 86.47 a litre. Petrol rates have gone up by ₹ 1.40 per litre in the last nine days. Fuel prices differ from state to state, which depends on the value-added tax (VAT) levied by the state government.

Fuel prices are currently at record highs across the country

Here are the petrol and diesel prices across five major metros on June 9, 2021:

In Mumbai, petrol is inching towards ₹ 102 per litre mark, currently retails at ₹ 101.76 per litre. Diesel, on the other hand, is priced at ₹ 93.85 per litre, seeing a hike of 27 paise. Other metro cities too have witnessed a similar hike in fuel rates. In Kolkata, the petrol price went up by 24 paise to Rs 95.52 per litre from ₹ 95.28 a litre and diesel increased to ₹ 89.32 per litre. Prices of the two auto fuels in Chennai now stand at ₹ 96.94 a litre and ₹ 91.15 a litre. Petrol and diesel prices in Bengaluru have reached ₹ 98.75 per litre and ₹ 91.67 per litre, respectively.

Customers in Mumbai will have to pay ₹ 101.76 per litre for petrol

Fuel prices continue to be most expensive in Rajasthan's Sri Ganganagar district where petrol is priced at ₹ 106.640 per litre, while diesel retailed at ₹ 99.50 per litre, inching closer to ₹ 100 per litre mark. Right behind are Madhya Pradesh's Anuppur and Rewa districts, where petrol has reached ₹ 106.29 a litre and ₹ 105.93 a litre, while diesel is retailed at ₹ 97.44 and ₹ 97.11 a litre, respectively.

Other regions where petrol rates have already breached the ₹ 100 per litre mark include Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Nashik, Nagpur, Thane, Pune, Navi Mumbai, Jaisalmer, Banswara, Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Ratnagiri, Leh, Parbhani. Do note, Rajasthan levies the highest VAT on petrol in the country, followed by Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
