Hyderabad: People from Hyderabad welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to supply 75 percent of the country COVID vaccine doses free to state governments.
Musnaabad Vaccination Center Ratna Rani, deputy project officer, said ANI said: ‘There is a shortage of vaccines and states cannot obtain them themselves. The move by the central government will help state governments speed up the vaccination. ”

Premier Narendra Modi announced on Monday that the center will provide free COVID-19 vaccine to all Indian citizens over the age of 18 from 21 June and it will handle the 25 per cent vaccination that has been in the countries so far according to the liberalization plan announced earlier.
In a televised speech to the country, the prime minister said the center would obtain 75 percent of the total production of the vaccine doses and provide them to the states free of charge. No state government would spend anything on the vaccines.
The liberalized vaccination policy came into effect on 1 May, in which all people over the age of 18 are eligible. The policy resulted in the center acquiring 50 percent vaccine stock and 50 percent under ‘other than the Government of India Channel’.
Many prime ministers have in recent days encouraged the center to procure and supply vaccines due to the restrictions on their procurement.
The prime minister said the center and the states would start working on new guidelines within two weeks.
A decision was made today that 25 percent of the vaccination work that was with the states, that the center would also take responsibility. This will be implemented in the next two weeks. “Both the state and the central government will work according to new guidelines in the next two weeks,” he said.
