Pune, Jun 8 (UNI) The Southwest Monsoon is likely to advance into remaining stretches of Arabian Sea, Maharashtra, some more parts of Gujarat, along with remaining sites of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, entire West Bengal, Bihar and east Uttar Pradesh during next 2-3 days, predicted the Indian Meteorological Department here today.
While, the SW Monsoon has further advanced into entire central & some expanse of north Arabian Sea, entire Konkan, including Mumbai and most tracts of interior Maharashtra, some spots of south Gujarat Region, some more locales of Telangana & Andhra Pradesh, most portions of central Bay of Bengal and some more nooks of north Bay of Bengal on Wednesday.
The SW Monsoon has been active over West Bengal and Sikkim, while it has been weak over Interior Karnataka.
Day temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1 degree Celsius and more) at most places of Jammu-Kashmir & Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad as well at isolated corners of south interior Karnataka and interior Tamil Nadu.
They were appreciably above par (3.1 degree C to 5.0 degree C) at a few sectors of Kerala while above norm (1.6 degree C to 3.0 degree C) at most terrains of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.
They were also above par at many pockets of Uttarakhand, at a few regions of Bihar, west Uttar Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam as well at isolated segments of Gangetic West Bengal, west Rajasthan, Odisha and coastal Karnataka.
Day temperatures were appreciably below normal (minus 3.1 degree C to minus 5.0 degree C) at many sections of Vidarbha, at a few slices of Andaman, Nicobar Islands and east Rajasthan as well at isolated corners of Chhattisgarh.
They were below par (minus 1.6 degree C to minus 3.0 degree C) at most areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Madhya Pradesh, along with many terrains of Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Konkan, Goa and north Interior Karnataka as well at a few spots of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, east Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat Region and Telangana.
They were also below norm at isolated slices of Rayalaseema while near normal over the remaining parts of the country.
The highest maximum temperature of 45.1 degree C was reported at Ganganagar (west Rajasthan).
Thunderstorm had occurred at isolated quarters over east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Konkan, Goa, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe during past 24 hours.
Rain or thundershowers had pummelled most zones in West Bengal, Sikkim, Vidarbha, Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka and Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the period.
They had battered many divisions in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Marathwada, Telangana and Kerala during the period.
They had lashed a few niches in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Jharkhand, west Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and south Interior Karnataka during the period.
Isolated patches in east Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat Region, Saurashtra, Kutch, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalseema, Tamil Nadu and north Interior Karnataka were also hit by rain during the period.
Dry weather prevailed over west Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir & Ladakh, Rajasthan and Lakshadweep during the period.
