  • A couple has been arrested for allegedly feeding a boy faeces after catching him relieving himself in front of their home.
  • The disturbing incident happened in Nkululekweni Township in Komani on Saturday afternoon.
  • The couple are scheduled to appear in the Komani Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Police have arrested an Eastern Cape couple for allegedly assaulting a boy they caught relieving himself in front of their gate, and forcing him to eat his own faeces.

Asanda Mkoko, 39, and Ayabulela Yolanda Buso, 28, were arrested at their Nkululekweni Township home in Komani on Sunday evening.

The two appeared in the Queenstown Magistrate's Court on Wednesday facing charges of attempted murder, child abuse and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, said the NPA in a statement.

Their case was postponed to 15 June for a bail application, NPA spokesperson Anelisa Ngcakani said.

The NPA would oppose bail, she added.

The police arrested the couple after residents alerted them to the incident.

"According to the information, a 12-year-old boy was playing together with his friend on Saturday afternoon when he allegedly relieved himself in front of the gate of the suspects' house," Kinana said.

"The report further suggests that whilst he was busy relieving himself, the couple came out and assaulted the child whilst forcing him to feed on his own faeces."
