Maharashtra clocks 10,989 Covid cases, 261 deaths in a day; Mumbai daily count at 788
- Maharashtra's case recovery rate now stands at 95.45%, while the fatality rate is 1.74%
Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 10,989 new Covid-19 cases and 261 deaths, while 16,379 patients recovered from the infection in a span of 24 hours, the state health department said.
With the new additions in infections and fatalities, Maharashtra's caseload rose to 58,63,880, while the death toll increased to 1,01,833, it said.
On Tuesday, the state has reported 10,891 coronavirus cases and 295 fatalities.
A total of 16,379 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, raising the count of recoveries to 55,97,304 and leaving the state with 1,61,864 active cases.
Maharashtra's case recovery rate now stands at 95.45%, while the fatality rate is 1.74%.
As many as 2,20,912 coronavirus tests were done during the day, taking the total to 3,71,28,093.
The daily cases in the state have dipped to around 10,000 in the last two days. Maharashtra had reported 9,927 cases on 9 March this year after which the numbers had increased.
Mumbai reported 788 fresh cases and 27 deaths, taking the infection count to 7,12, 840 and the toll to 15,033, the department said.
The larger Mumbai division reported 2,403 new cases and 47 deaths, taking the region's caseload to 15,54,814 and death toll to 28,553.
Nashik division reported 972 new cases, Pune division 2,752 cases, while Kolhapur division reported 3,527 cases including 1,078 in Kolhapur district itself.
Aurangabad division recorded 188 new cases, Latur division 386 cases, Akola division reported 451 cases, while Nagpur division reported 310 cases.
