Hyundai Creta is the best selling mid-size SUV in the Indian market. Now, the manufacturer will soon be adding a new variant called SX Executive that will sit below the SX variant. It will be offered only with the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The SX Executive trim will cost Rs. 78,000 less than the SX variant and Rs. 95,000 more than the S MT variant.

The SX variant will miss out on the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, BlueLink connectivity, Burglar alarm, Arkamys sound system, driver rearview monitor and voice recognization button. Because there is no infotainment system, it will also not have any kind of smartphone connectivity (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay). Instead of the infotainment system, there will be a blanking cover.

It will come with a Bluetooth mic, steering mounted audio controls, shark-fin antenna, rearview camera and a USB port. The buyer would be able to install an infotainment system from the dealerships and their warranty will not be affected. It will come with day/night rearview mirror and the chrome door handles will be replaced by body-coloured door handles.

The Creta is offered in five variants, namely E, EX, S, SX, and SX(O). With the addition of SX Executive the number of variants will increase to six. The Creta’s range starts at Rs. 10.06 lakhs ex-showroom and goes all the way upto Rs. 17.83 lakhs ex-showroom. The Creta goes against the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, Nissan Kicks, Renualt Duster, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Skoda Kushaq and the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun.

Variants updated earlier also

Hyundai increased the price of the Creta earlier by Rs. 20,000. They added features to all the variants and deleted some features from the base E variant. The manufacturer also increased the production of the Creta to decrease the waiting period.

Engines and transmissions

Hyundai offers the Creta with three engine options. There is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that comes with direct-injection. The naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 115 PS of max power and 144 Nm of peak torque. The engine is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic gearbox.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine produces 115 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. The engine is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Then there is the 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 140 PS of max power and 242 Nm of peak torque. It is offered only with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Best selling SUV

The Creta is the best selling vehicle of May 2021. It even managed to outsell compact SUVs hatchbacks and other mid-size SUVs. It outsold popular vehicles like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Swift, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Dzire etc. The manufacturer sold 7,527 units of the Creta in May’21. This might look like a great sales figure but in April’21, Hyundai sold 12,463 units of Creta. One of the reasons why Creta beat Maruti Suzuki vehicles was that the production plant of Maruti Suzuki was halted because of annual maintenance. Due to this, their dispatch volume fell.
