Juno spacecraft has been circulating around Jupiter since 2016, but on Monday, it moved past Ganymede which came within 645 miles of the moon. It is the first space craft to move that closer since two decades. nasa released first two images of the five captured by the spacecraft.

Scientists are believing that this largest moon is having an ocean of salt water beneath its icy shell and it is the only moon with its own magnetic field. Scientists are hoping that Juno will help them to know more about Ganymede icy shell and its magnetic field. nasa said that the Juno will send more images of the biggest moon in the coming days. The spacecraft Juno is named after Jupiter’s wife Juno and was launched in 2011 which reached its destination in 2016.
