EU consumer IoT report finds competition concerns about voice assistants

The European Commission has published a preliminary report from its competition inquiry into the consumer IoT market. Started in July 2020, the inquiry aims to get ahead of any emerging problems in the quickly growing market for smart devices. The over 200 responses suggest the internet giants may already be exerting significant influence, thanks to the dominance of their operating systems and voice assistants on IoT devices.
