Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A team of the State Excise Department has recovered liquor in huge quantities from the drainage chamber and bushes on Kesar Bagh Road on Tuesday evening.
However, the liquor suppliers could not be arrested till Wednesday afternoon. It was believed that the liquor was stored by the bootleggers to supply it to the city and to mislead the excise department and the police.
Assistant Excise Commissioner Raj Narayan Soni said a team was patrolling the area when information about the liquor was received. The team reached the spot and was shocked to see liquor in huge quantities in drainage chamber. About 10 cartons containing country liquor were recovered from the drainage chamber.
The team later searched the bushes and found about three cartons kept in the bags from there. In all, excise officers seized about 13 cartons containing country made liquor worth Rs 75,000 from two places on Kesar Bagh Road.
The excise officers registered two cases under MP Excise Act. ADEO Avdhesh Kumar Pandey, excise sub inspector Sonali Benjamin and constable Pramod Shette were parts of search team.
