CISF to take over security of Bharat Biotech’s Hyderabad campus from June 14

The request for security for Bharat Biotech's plant in Hyderabad came a month ago.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will take charge of the security of made-in-India Covid-19 vaccine– Covaxin manufacturer Bharat Biotech’s Hyderabad campus from June 14, reports said.

As per the CISF, the registered office and plant of the pharma company located at Genome Valley in the Shameerpet area of Hyderabad will be secured by a 64-member team of the paramilitary force will protect.

However, the sources in CISF said the request for security for Bharat Biotech’s plant in Hyderabad came a month ago. The request was examined and security was approved accordingly. The cost of the security will be borne by Bharat Biotech.

Reports said the Union home ministry recently sanctioned a proposal to deploy the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at this facility, following which the force carried out a survey.

“The organisation is an important facility when it comes to ensuring medical and health security of the country and it obviously faces a terror threat from various inimical elements. The CISF, hence, has been tasked to secure the Bharat Biotech facility in Hyderabad,” an official said.

The force will be inducted at the facility on June 14, CISF Deputy Inspector General and Chief Spokesperson Anil Pandey told PTI.

CISF also guards around 10 such facilities across the country, comprising Infosys campuses in Pune and Mysuru, yoga guru Ramdev’s Patanjali factory in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar, and the Reliance IT Park in Navi Mumbai.
