I have weightlifting shoes that have had the heels increased to 3 inches. Is that too much for high bar back squats? Is there an ideal heel height to be able to squat well without overdoing it?
Probably good for bodybuilding purposes/quads.
If your powerlifting or olympic lifting you may not want such a high heel on your shoes.
Really it would be an individual thing.
The higher the heel the harder it will be to balance the bar when squatting.
