Pakyong, 09 Jun : “No hospital at the cost of playground, Govt should focus on upgrading existing hospitals and PHCs to fight COVID-19 on a war footing instead of building a new hospital, said football icon Bhaichung Bhutia. The remark of Bhutia comes slamming Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) who officially had laid the foundation stone of 300 bedded hospital for the people of South Sikkim ensuring that best of best health facilities with state-of-the-art Health Infrastructure be available for the people at priority when Covid 19 Pandemic taught a lesson to the world that people’s health cannot be compromised at any cost.
However Bhutia criticized the event as the saddest thing stating that Hospital cannot be over the top of playground , reportedly he flayed the state govt to divert the hospital to Karfectar near Jorthang instead of indulging with a playground where Hospital has been proposed in vicinity.
“It would have been better if it had been shifted to Karfectar near Jorethang, where the government has sold land for a cancer hospital. This location suits people from both South and West Sikkim districts,” Bhutia made a remark.
