Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Jun 8 (UNI) AIMIM MP from Aurangabad, Imtiaz Jaleel on Wednesday demanded that the government should provide financial assistance to the victims of atrocities, which has been pending for past one-and-a-half-year.
Financial assistance is given to the victims by the Social Welfare Department on behalf of the government, he said in a release here.
Under the Atrocities Act, after the filing of a case, the victim is given 25 per cent assistance by the Social Welfare Department and once the chargesheet is filed in a court of law, 50 per cent of the amount is given and the remaining 25 per cent is given
after the verdict, he said.
However, even after filing of the chargesheet in the court, the second installment of financial assistance has not been provided to the victims since last one-and-a-half-year, Mr Jaleel added.
