  • The host is exiting the franchise after 19 years.
  • "I've had a truly incredible run as host of The Bachelor franchise, and now I'm excited to start a new chapter," wrote Chris on Instagram.

Chris Harrison's Bachelor journey has come to an end. After hosting the long-running reality dating show and its spin-offs for 19 years, the 49-year-old is leaving the franchise.

News of Chris' exit comes after he announced that he was stepping aside from his role as host in February after being widely criticised for his comments about race.

At the time, he defended contestant Rachael Kirkconnell who had to apologise for attending a sorority party at a former slave plantation.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the former host wrote: "I've had a truly incredible run as host of The Bachelor franchise, and now I'm excited to start a new chapter. I'm so grateful to Bachelor Nation for all of the memories we've made together. While my two-decade journey is wrapping up, the friendships I've made will last a lifetime."
