BHOPAL: The process for admission under provisions of Right to Education (RTE) will begin from June 10. This is for the first time that children orphaned due to Covid-19 can also apply for admissions in private schools under the RTE.

Applications for admissions will be taken online from June 10 and the last date to apply is June 30. The verification of documents needs to be done by July 1.

Lottery for admissions under RTE will be organized on July 6. Parents will be informed through SMS about the results of lottery. Parents will get time up to July 16 to complete the formalities related to admission including submission of all verified documents.

The vacant seats from round one will be depicted on the departmentís portal from July 19. Parents will have time up to July 25 to update their choice of schools till July 25.

The second draw of lots for admission will be held on July 28. Selected children will have time up to August 7 to submit all documents and complete all formalities related to admission.

This is for the first time that children orphaned due to Covid-19 have also been included under provisions of RTE. The scheme is called Mukhyamantri Covid 19 Bal Kalyan Yojna under which children who have lost the parents or guardians or the sole earning member will remain eligible for admission in private schools.

These children will study till class 8 under provisions of RTE but separate provisions have been made for further studies. They can study for free in government schools from class 9-12 or can earn a scholarship of Rs 10,000 per year to study in a private school.
