Jammu, Jun 8 (UNI) In the backdrop of the fire incident that broke out at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan on Tuesday, the Shrine Board official said that no injury has been reported in the incident while the yatra is also progressing smoothly.
Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Ramesh Kumar said that at around 1600 hours a fire incident took place at Bhawan.
“The fire hydrants were pressed into service and the fire was brought under control by 1625 hours and no person has been injured in the incident,” the CEO said and added that there has been no hindrance to the Yatra.
“The Yatra to the Cave Shrine is progressing smoothly,” Mr Kumar added.
A fire broke out earlier at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan situated in Trikuta Hills of Katra town in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that a fire broke out at the counting centre near Reception No:4 at Bhawan while the exact cause of fire was not known.
Police teams along with firefighters, Shrine Board men, forest teams and para-military troops immediately swing into action and immediately engage in controlling the fire.
“No injury or major damage was reported in the fire. It was timely controlled and prevented from spreading to nearby complexes with the joint efforts of various agencies,” said an official.
In view of the surge in COVID cases, the number of pilgrims had declined but with unlock in place, the figure has started swelling.
In the first four months, more than 16 lakh pilgrims visited the Bhawan and paid obeisance at the cave shrine.
