1,718 new cases in Kollam

The district reported 1,718 new cases of COVID-19 and 1,473 recoveries on Tuesday.

The new patients include 1,710 contact cases, two NRIs and six health workers. The number of people who tested positive in Kollam Corporation is 615.

The district currently has 37,535 people under observation and the total number of samples collected is 14,49,559.

While 5,415 people completed home quarantine on Tuesday, the Health Department has traced 2,53,017 primary and 16,600 secondary contacts of the patients.

Kollam currently has six CSLTCs and 10 CFLTCs functioning in the district.

Alappuzha

The district reported 1,197 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. The test positivity rate for the day stood at 11.1%.

As many as 1,192 people contracted the disease through local contact, while the source of infection of four others remains unknown. One person who came from another State also tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.

Meanwhile, 1,521 people who were undergoing treatment for the disease in the district tested negative. The active COVID-19 caseload stands at 14,012.

The police on Tuesday registered 34 cases and arrested 19 people for violating the restrictions imposed to check the spread of COVID-19 in the district. Action was also taken against 710 people for not wearing face masks, 497 people for violating physical distancing norms, and eight people for violating quarantine norms. Authorities also seized 168 vehicles.

Kottayam

As many as 644 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Kottayam on Tuesday.

Of the fresh cases, 636 people contracted the disease through local transmission. The daily Test Positivity Rate (TPR) of the district further declined to 11.64%.

With 84 cases, Kottayam municipality reported the highest number of cases, followed by Thrikkodithanam with 40 cases.

As many as 846 people recovered from the disease during the day, bringing down the total active cases in the district to 5,211 while 34,741 others remain in quarantine for suspected symptoms of the disease.

Pathanamthitta

In Pathanamathitta, 560 people tested positive for the disease during the day.

Of this, all but one contracted the virus through local transmission. The contact source of three cases were yet to be ascertained. The TPR for the day was 12.7%.

With 36 cases, Pathanamathitta reported the highest number of cases, followed by Thiruvalla municipality with 26 cases each . The disease, meanwhile, claimed nine more lives in the district.

With 627 recoverie, Pathanamathitta currently has 5,605 active cases.

Meanwhile, the district administration has intensified restrictions on the Panadalam municipality and 15 panchayats where the daily TPR remained high.
