Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 Sold Out For 2021; Next Allotment To Arrive In Q1 2022

Mercedes-Benz, which had allotted over 50 units of the new Maybach GLS 600 for India, has sold out all the units until December 2021. Now it's taking pre-orders for the next batch which will only arrive in early 2022.

Mercedes-Benz India today launched its flagship SUV - the Maybach GLS 600 in the country, and even before the official price announcement, the company has sold out the first batch of the SUV. The company has received orders for all 50+ Maybach GLS 600 which were allotted for India until December 2021, and deliveries for these vehicles will commence in the next few days. Right now, the company has started taking pre-orders and configuring the second batch of Maybach GLS 600 SUVs, which will only arrive in the first quarter of 2022.

Speaking at the digital launch event for the SUV, Martin Schwenk, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, "We now already have a very very good, positive feedback from a lot of customers, even before we have actually launched the vehicle. With seeing the positivity coming back into the market, and the expectations our customers would have from a GLS Maybach, we have already seen quite a strong pull into that car. For me, it's hard to imagine but we already have 50 orders for the first (batch of) GLS." Talking about the second batch of SUVs, he further added, "We have, right now, another set of customers configuring their vehicles and ordering it, and it will be then produced as well. In early next year, they will be then also here in India. So, I am really impressed about how we have taken speed with this vehicle."

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 comes with optional 23-inch Maybach multi-spoke light-alloy wheels

India only gets one variant of the SUV, which is the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic, and the company offers several personalisation options to its customers. It's the first SUV to be launched under the Maybach brand, and several visual elements signify that like - the large chrome grille, matching chrome detain on the bumper and skid plate and massive 22-inch alloy wheels, all offered as standard. The SUV gets more chrome inserts on side cladding, B-pillar, and bumpers. Plus, we have the Maybach logo on the D-pillar. The SUV also gets LED headlamps, adaptive LED taillamps, and optional 23-inch Maybach multi-spoke light-alloy wheels.

The SUV comes with a 3135 mm long wheelbase, out of which the rear passengers get legroom of 1103 mm

The cabin comes with several trim options and one of them is this beige-brown dual-tone interior with Nappa leather upholstery. It's offered in either 4- or 5-seater option and gets reclining rear seats, along with other features like - electronic panoramic sliding/tilting sunroof with opaque roller blinds, ultra-comfortable and bolstered ventilated massaging seats and a wide range of ambient lighting among others. The signature 12.3-inch dual-screens display is also standard, and it is equipped with the latest MBUX infotainment system with the 'Hey Mercedes' voice command system and Mercedes Me connected car tech. Safety features include - 8 airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, 360-degree camera, Electronic Traction System 4ETS (4MATIC+), Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR), Off-road driving mode, and PRE-SAFE system.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4Matic is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine that is tuned to churn out 542 bhp and 730 Nm of peak torque while mated to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission. The engine is also paired with a 48-volt system EQ Boost system, which offers an additional 250 Nm of torque and 21 bhp when needed. The SUV can go from 0-100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds, which is impressive for an SUV that tips the scales at 3250 kg, and it has a top speed of 250 kmph.
