Delhi records 316 COVID-19 cases, 41 deaths

New Delhi, Jun 8 (UNI) Delhi registered 316 cases of COVID-19 and 41 deaths from the virus in the past 24 hours, a health bulletin said here on Tuesday.

The positivity rate in the National Capital has increased to 0.44 per cent while the fatality rate stands at 1.73 per cent.

The peak of the positivity rate during the ongoing second wave in Delhi was 36 per cent on April 22. The active cases have come down to 4,926 as a total of 521 patients also recovered in the past day.

The fresh cases came from a total of 71,879 tests, comprising 48,574 RT PCR/CBNAAT/True Nat and 23,305 rapid antigen tests, conducted in the last 24 hours.

The total cases in Delhi have reached 14,29,791 while the death toll has surged to 24,668.

As per the official data, 21,597 COVID beds are available in hospitals, 6,182 in dedicated COVID Care Centre, and 506 in dedicated COVID Health Care Centres. At the peak of the second wave in April, only 5-6 per cent of beds were vacant on many days.

The health bulletin said 66,175 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the past day, which included 33,767 first dose recipients and 32,408 who were administered with a second dose.

As per the data of the last seven days, Delhi recorded 231 cases and 45 deaths on Monday; 487 cases and 45 deaths on Monday; 381 cases and 34 deaths on Sunday, 414 cases and 60 deaths on Saturday, 523 cases and 50 deaths on Friday, 576 cases and 103 deaths on Wednesday; 623 cases and 62 deaths on Tuesday.

It had recorded its highest single-day spike of 28,395 COVID-19 cases on April 20.
