ICC WTC Final: MSK Prasad, Kiran More heap praise on Rishabh Pant ahead of World Test Championship final

ICC WTC Final: MSK Prasad, Kiran More heap praise on Rishabh Pant ahead of World Test Championship final- Former India selectors Kiran More and MSK Prasad lauded Rishabh Pant with the former labelling him as a key player in the build-up to the ICC World Test Championship final.

In a recent interview, MSK Prasad lauded the 23-year-old and said that many people didn’t believe that Pant would turn into a good cricketer.

“Initially, when we picked Pant in the squad, Saha was the best keeper in the country purely because of his keeping skills. Later, we all accepted the fact that Pant will keep wickets in away series because your keeping skills are not tested much and batting skills become more important. With the stellar performances in Australia, Pant has convinced the team management that he needs to be backed even at home and immediately the way he kept wickets against England this year was there for all to see,” Prasad was quoted as saying by cricket.com

ICC WTC Final Kiran More, on the other hand, has named Rishabh Pant as key player for the ICC WTC Final.

“I feel he (Rishabh Pant) will once again be the key player for us in the World Test Championship final and also in the England series. He is on top of his game at the moment and I think he feels confident enough to change the course of the game with the bat from any position,” More told rediff.com

I believe he has settled down nicely now. This is his second tour to England, in fact the third tour if you consider the World Cup in 2019. He knows the conditions well, he has scored a century in a Test match. With the gloves too, I believe he will do a good job,” he added.

ICC WTC Final Notably, Rishabh Pant scored 274 runs in 5 innings against Australia, including 90+ innings twice and helped India clinch a 2-1 series win in Border Gavaskar Trophy. The youngster then slammed 270 runs in 6 innings during the Test series against England, which also included a century.
