TN SET exam 2021: Increase no. of subjects, say academicians

TRICHY: While Annamalai University in Chidambaram will release notification for Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (TN-SET 2021) in a week, academicians have urged the university to increase the number of subjects in which the examination is conducted.


While there are only 26 subjects covering science, commerce and humanities discipline in which the examination is conducted, it gives limited scope for students from science discipline. For instance, an M Sc graduate in analytical chemistry need to write TN SET in chemical sciences subject and clear the exam to become eligible for teaching in colleges. However, students from 12 other disciplines will also be appearing for the common chemical science subject.

Speaking to TOI, TN SET coordinator from Annamalai University A Ragupathy sad that the same format is being used in other states and it has been followed for years together. He said there are possibilities of increasing the subjects if they receive grievances from the candidates.
